What is Knife Making?

Knife Making is the process of manufacturing a knife by any one or a combination of processes: Stock removal, hand forging to shape or welded lamination. Typical metals are carbon steel, tool steel, and stainless.
Our Process

  1. We start by selecting the customers steel of choice and knife template………

  2. We transfer the knife template to the steel and scribe the pattern and remove the excess stock with a band saw.

  3. We then profile the blade shape using my KMG 2″x72″ belt grinder. We use an 8’’ and 10” contact wheel for the majority of the removal and do all the clean it up with a flat platen and small wheel attachments on our secondary grinder.

  4. Once the knife is profiled we mark and drill the holes for the handles, bolsters or guards if required or requested. We also drill weight reduction holes in the tang at this point and chamfer all holes for a good epoxy adhesion. Epoxy will fill these voids creating a better bond through the tang area as well as add a moisture barrier.

  5. We then sand all the flats…

What is Hand Forging?

A forged blade is a piece of steel that has been hammered into shape using fire, hammer and anvil.stephen curry shoes The smith starts with a basic round stock or a flat stock bar and sculptures the knife to shape. It’s heated again and again followed by more hammering. A forged knife is a true example of bladesmith art.
Our Process

  1. First step in this very labor intense process of knife making is to forge your steel of choice from round stock to a flat bar. Round stock is my choice but you can forge a knife from pretty much anything made of steel. My preference is good quality round stock for 2 reasons, the time and effort it takes to make a knife this way you may as well use good steel and also knowing the exact type of steel you’ll be heat treating is pretty important also.

  2. Forging a knife with a gas or coal forge, a hammer and an anvil takes many heats to get through this part of drawing/forging the blade. Drawing the steel by way of arm and hammer is difficult enough so having your forge at the correct temperature is crucial. Generally you want to be forging your steel in the range of 1800-2000F, some Bladesmith’s forging temps will vary slightly depending on steel used.

  3. After drawing and flattening out with hammer I…

What are the differences between steel types?

Steel Type Description
O1 This is a classic tried and true high carbon tool steel that holds a superb edge and makes a great knife. O1 has good wear resistance and edge stability. Used by many custom knife makers and comes highly regarded as excellent tool steel choice. High in carbon, blade care and maintenance required to prevent possible corrosion.
440C A quality stainless steel well adapted to knife blades. 16 to 18% chromium makes 440c the most stain resistant steel I use. It’s considered a mid to high end stainless steel. It is very resistant to corrosion and is one of the most common stainless alloys for knife making today.
ATS 34 ATS 34 is a stainless steel with good stain resistance and great durability. One of the best knife steels available, high in Carbon + 1% and high Chromium + 14% and a commonly used steel by custom knife makers. High quality knives have been made out of these steel for years by experienced makers. ATS 34 holds a keen edge and has good toughness.

Beg_abc_Eng please make sure photos are not blurry As the bride, it goes without saying that your nails need to be neatly manicured on your wedding day. Your family and friends will be marveling over your shiny new wedding band the minute you tie the knot, so it's important that your nails are ready for their close up. While you'll stay busy with regular trips to the nail salon in the weeks leading up to the big day, don't forget to check in with your bridesmaids and discuss any expectations you may have about the condition and style of their wedding day nails. Each episode, while familiar in its own way, stands out as some very creative and engaging material. The stories slowly unfold and even if they're familiar and obvious where it will go, there are often enough small twists to really keep you engaged in it. Mushishi has been a real surprise overall considering I felt indifferent towards the manga. This quote introduces an issue that may lie at the heart of FirstEnergy's past problems: the non regulated part of their business. FirstEnergy Solutions, the company's unregulated division, owns all of FE's power plants. It has been a source of problems for the company, but as discussed below, the company has a plan to remedy that. Sunglasses are also a great accessory for your bikini. They can protect your eyes from the sun, so be sure to pick a pair that has UV in them. That means the shades will protect you from the Ultra Violet rays of the sun. And if you don't wear glasses in the first place, they'll sell you a non prescription pair for around $32.50.What if you need to venture into other non religious neighborhoods, where packs of unmarried women presumably roam the streets looking for men to harass? Don't worry: They also sell optional hoods and shields to block peripheral vision. We're just hoping that even with the blur a woman still looks different enough from an oncoming motorbike."I can't tell if that's two headlights or one."But these modesty patrols seem like debauched liberals compared to the Sikrikim a group of around 100 religious men who want their already ultra Orthodox neighborhood to become, well, what comes after "ultra"? They hope to achieve this by smashing windows, scrawling graffiti, and hurling bags of poop, all in the name of decency. One of their targets is an ice cream shop.
